Copadichromis mbenjii
The copadichromis azureus mbenjii is a rare cousin of the more common African cichlid borleyi kadango. The copadichromis mbenji originate from the Mbenji Island in Lake Malawi but few are caught in the wild today. Our selection comes from a breeder in California known for keeping the strains pure. The general size of our tank raised copadichromis are two inches. Codapidchromis grow to a max of five inches, and females grow to about four inches. Though the females have a little less blue and orange coloration their defining three spot pattern is clearer. The three spot borleyi – one common name for the copadichromis – are relatively peaceful with other African cichlids and prefer rocky terrain to stake a territory.
