Midas Cichlid
The Midas Cichlid is NOT THE SAME as the red devil cichlid, though both have similar colors and both come from Nicaragua. The Midas Cichlid, named for the gold splotches on the adult – these cichlids go through color transformations as the age – is not as common and the red devil. Midas cichlids are large aggressive and territorial, but will share the fish tank with species of similar size and temperament. These cichlids need veggies in their meal along with some meaty proteins.
