Yes. We will pack fish with heat packs or cold packs according to local weather conditions in your area. We ship UPS Standard Overnight, and you must be ready to receive your package (or packages) when they arrive.
There are several good rules of thumb, we recommend checking howmanyfish.com as one good resource.
4 out of 5 people stop keeping tropical fish the very first year they have an aquarium. They have a tough time keeping the fish alive and in reality this should not be a problem. The fish hobby is such a great hobby and we at WorldofFish.com do not want anyone to ever be discouraged. If you are new to the hobby please check ALL the following when you order and start your aquarium tropical fish adventure:
- Your fresh-water or salt-water aquarium water needs to be ready for fish – water needs to be the correct temperature, pH, and salinity for at least 48 hours before any fish are introduced. If you are not familiar with these terms please research and check the water conditions you fish require.
- Ensure the correct food for the fish you order is on hand. Never overfeed, feed as much as tropical fish can consume in about five minutes. Never use “vacation” foods, fish can go for several days without feeding.
- Never overstock the fish tank. Who doesn’t want to add everything at once? In the case of an aquarium we are creating an ecosystem that recreates conditions in the wild. This can take up to two weeks. Therefore, only introduce a few fish to the tank the first week, let the ecosystem establish, and add more fish the second week.
It takes 8-18 hours to fulfill orders after they are placed. This is due to only being able to catch, bag, and pack fish that are going out that day and shipped.
When your order is packed, you automatically get a shipping confirmation email with your tracking number. This will let you know your fish on their way.
Since we only fulfill orders Monday-Fridays, any orders that come in Saturday-Sunday are pushed out to Monday.
We take care of the entire process ourselves. We control every aspect of the breeding, spawing and drowth. We aspire to provide you the highest quality of fish, stong, vigorous and colorful. We are careful in selecting our breeders and always try to minimize inbreeding.
We use all natural food for our fish. We do not use chelicals or hormones to enhance color. All our fish are spawned using proprietary techniques we have developed over the years.
The size is on approximation. The average size of the fish you will recive may be slightly smaller/larger then what is advertised on our website.
-
Inspect the box upon receipt. Make sure there is no significant visible damage to the box.
-
Open the box and inspect the fish. This is where you need to see if any are DOA. If there are any DOA please take pictures in the unopened bag.
-
Next you want to float the bags for 5-10 min. DO NOT OPEN the bags. DO NOT PUT water into the bags from your tank.
-
Place a net over a bucket and pour the fish into the net. Place the fish directly into your tank. DO NOT PLACE any of the shipping water into your tank.
-
Leave the lights off for several hours to let the new fish settle into their new home.
-
Do not feed until the fish look happy and active. Catfish will be more active with the lights off.
Please contact us with a photo of the DOA (Dead On Arrival) along with your order number and specify what fish are included in the photo.
DOAs will be either refunded or you will be given a discount code, whichever is most convenient for you.
Shipping is a 3rd party cost and is NOT REFUNDABLE.
We also DO NOT ship replacement fish.
When fish are not ready to ship. Some animals do need more time to clean up than others. For example plecos need extra time.
When the fish may not be in a good enough physical condition. Some fish are more sensitive and/or aggressive, they might get little damage from being moved from grow out tank to shipping tank.
During the holidays and 1-2 days before the Holiday. We will not ship your order if the arriving time is on the holiday, when the shipping service may be closed, this is in order to avoid a extra long transit for the animals.
Please feel free to let us know if you prefer a specific shipping day, we will do our best to satisfy your request.
Check the tracking number that was included in your Shipping confirmation email. This will give you information on the status of your package.
If your order was delayed due to a carrier issue, please know that we pack all of our fish to last longer than 24 hours just in case of these situations. When your order does arrive, make sure to accept your package as there is a good chance of survival, plus our live arrival policy requires that you have the fish to be eligible for a refund.
If you did not receive a Shipping confirmation email by 6pm PST, your order may not have shipped due to a delay in our warehouse or shipping department.
The fish travel in plastic bags with clean water and pure oxygen. They are then placed in a Styrofoam insulation container which is protected by a cardboard box. We can also use heat or ice packs depending on the season. The fish can easily remain this way for over 48 hours. Because we want to make sure they arrive feeling strong, we ask that you be present when they are delivered to you. You should also plan for some time to place them in their new aquarium
Light Aquatics Tropical uses UPS Standard overnight shipping for all our fish orders.
We invest in the well being of our fish while they are in our warehouse and in order to keep fish happy and healthy, shortening their travel time is important.
To avoid any weekend delays, we ship orders Monday-Friday.
Orders that come in Saturday and Sunday start to get processed the following week.
